Using the quadratic formula;

$x\text{ =}\frac{-b\pm\sqrt[]{b^2-4ac}}{2a}$

2x²+7x+3=0

comparing the above with

ax² + bx + c =0

a=2 b=7 c=3

substitute the values into the formula

$x=\frac{-7\pm\sqrt[]{7^2-4(2)(3)}}{2(2)}$$x=\frac{-7\pm\sqrt[]{49-24}}{4}$$x=\frac{-7\pm\sqrt[]{25}}{4}$$x=\frac{-7\pm5}{4}$$\text{either x= }\frac{-7-5}{2}\text{ or x=}\frac{-7+5}{2}$$x=\frac{-12}{2}\text{ or x=}\frac{-2}{2}$$x=-6\text{ or x=-1}$

$x=-6\text{ or -1}$
