The one-drop rule was a kind of system which was developed to identify slaves in the 17th century. Mixing of racing was at its peak therefore in order to preserve their white domination, white legislators passed laws that says anyone with even one drop of Black blood in their black ancestry were to be considered Black which resulted in affecting the social structure of many African- American upcoming offsprings in which Barack Obama who said to be "the first black president" is actually not black. This law became prevalent in the US in the 20th century after the civil war and reconstruction era. This created certain problems as documentation about their ancestry is not present with some citizens. Therefore, Barack Obama's case has illustrated the significance of the one-drop rule.
