Famous economists John Maynard Keynes and Wassily Leontief predicted technology unemployment would occur in the future decades ago. They believed that as robots replaced people, labor would become less significant. The analysis also took into account wage percentiles, gender, industry, and occupation. It was discovered that the effects on employment are concentrated in the manufacturing industries and are 1.5–2 times stronger for males than for women.
Except for administrative roles, all jobs experience negative consequences. Unsurprisingly, blue-collar occupations requiring frequent manual labor, such machinists, assembly workers, and transportation workers, have seen significant declines in employment. As a worker's education level rises, the negative effects become somewhat less severe, and for workers with doctoral degrees, there is no influence at all.
