The problem could be like this.

While planning for the party, orders for chairs and tables were made such that for every 8 chairs, there were 3 tables. Find the number of chairs that would be ordered for if 15 tables were required.

Let x represent the number of chairs

Let y represent the number of tables

Therefore,]

x:y = 8:3

x/y = 8/3

When y = 15, then

x/15 = 8/3

By cross multiplying, it becomes

3x = 8 * 15 = 120

x = 120/3

x = 40

Therefore, 40 chairs would be ordered for 15 tables
