solution

[tex]\begin{gathered} -2y^2-6y=3 \\ -2y^2-6y-3=0 \\ \end{gathered}[/tex]

then, a = -2, b = -6 and c = -3

[tex]\begin{gathered} y_{1,2}=\frac{-\left(-6\right)\pm\sqrt{\left(-6\right)^2-4\left(-2\right)\left(-3\right)}}{2\left(-2\right)} \\ y_{1,\: 2}=\frac{6\pm\sqrt[]{36-24}}{-4} \\ y_{1,\: 2}=-\frac{6\pm\sqrt[]{12}}{4} \\ \end{gathered}[/tex]

so, solve for y1 and y2

[tex]y_1=-\frac{6+\sqrt[]{12}}{4}=-\frac{6+2\sqrt[]{3}}{4}=-\frac{2(3+\sqrt[]{3})}{4}=-\frac{3+\sqrt[]{3}}{2}[/tex][tex]y_2=-\frac{6-\sqrt[]{12}}{4}=-\frac{6-2\sqrt[]{3}}{4}=-\frac{2(3-\sqrt[]{3})}{4}=-\frac{3-\sqrt[]{3}}{2}[/tex]
