We would partition the box into two cuboids. The volume of sand that the box can hold would be the sum of the volume of each cuboids.

In cuboid B, 5 was gotten bu subtracting 7 from 12

Recall, the formula for determining the volume of a cuboid is expressed as

Volume = length x width x height

For cuboid A,

Volume = 8 x 7 x 2 = 112

For cuboid B,

Volume = 5 x 4 x 2 = 40

Total volume = 112 + 40 = 152

Thus, the volume of sand that the sandbox can hold is 152 square feet
