The genotype of a heterozygous person combines two different types of alleles, each of them provided by one of the parents. The answer is HETEROZYGOUS. "...the person is heterozygous_ for that gene".

What is a heterozygous genotype?

The genotype is the combination of parental alleles.

Let us remember that alleles are alternative forms in which the same gene can be expressed. Alleles code for the same feature but different traits.

An individual's genotype is composed of one of the parent's allele and the other parent's allele. This is, each of the progenitors provide one allele to the individual.

When the alleles provided by parents are different, the individual is heterozygous, because the genotype combines a dominant and a recessive allele.

Heterozygous genotypes are those composed of different alleles of the same gene.

The answer is HETEROZYGOUS.

If the allele of a particular gene from the father differs from the allele of the same gene from the mother, the person is _heterozygous_ for that gene.
