In Drosophila, the dosage compensation transcribes the X chromosome twice in males, whereas in humans, one of the X-chromosomes is inactivated in females so as to make the amount same in males as well as females.

Dosage compensation is the process in which the quantity of X chromosome is equalized in male and a female of the same species. This mechanism can be conducted by one of the three ways: (1) Inactivation of one X chromosome, (2) Double transcription of one X chromosome or (3) Semi-transcription of both the X chromosomes.

X-chromosome is the sex chromosome involved in sex determination. In humans, the females have two X chromosome, whereas males have only one.
