Shah Abbas combined some janissary traits with his Persian warriors to form the two devoted armies.

  • The Safavid artists collaborated with the Chinese artisans who Shah Abbas had introduced to the empire. The two groups of artisans combined to create items like metals, miniature paintings, calligraphy, glass, tile, and pottery.   • Shi'a Islam is a subset of Islam that was adopted as the official religion by Ismail, the Safavid monarch. This religion was a closely blended form of Islam practiced throughout the Ottoman Empire. mostly due to the Ottoman Empire's western boundary with the Safavid Empire. Due to the religious despotism of Ismail, the Shi'a of the Safavid and the Sunni of the Ottoman did not get along. resulting in the strain depicted in this image.
