The actual history of the cap of Monomakh was that it is a chief relic of the Russian Grand Princes and Tsars. It is a symbol-crown of the Russian autocracy.

   However the Tsars made claims that the Cap of Monomakh was  given by the Byzantine emperor Constantine Monomachus to Vladimir Monomakh, prince of Kiev, in the 12th century.
