The United States is a democracy in name but sometimes, the actions of the government feel as though it is not a democracy. Some of those actions include:
Politics in the United States is controlled by the rich. They are both the people who run for office and the ones who raise money for others to run for office. This means that the interests of the rich are ahead of those of the average American.
There is also racial division in the country which has led to some groups being treated unequally which is not to be the case in a democracy. Justice given by the Courts are also based on their ideologies and not the will of the majority such as the rolling by of Roe v. Wade by the Conservative Supreme Court.
