Japan celebrates labor day on may 1st.
The modern holiday was established in 1948, following World War II, as a day to commemorate some of the changes to Japan's postwar constitution, including the fundamental human rights and the expansion of worker's rights.
On this day, schoolchildren prepare cards or gifts to give to police officers, firefighters, hospital staff, members of the Japan Self-Defense Force and the Japan Coast Guard, and other members of the labor force to thank them for their service to the country.
The companies look back on their accomplishments and thank their employees for their hard work.
