If crossing over and independent assortment did not occur, what would be the outcome there would be less genetic variation among gametes.

The reproductive cells of a living being are called gametes. Sex cells is another name for them. Male and female gametes are referred to as sperm and ova, respectively. One copy of each chromosome is present in each haploid cell that makes up a gamete. Meiosis, a kind of cell division, is the process used to create these reproductive cells. Meiosis is the process by which a diploid parent cell—one with two copies of each chromosome—produces four haploid cells by going through one round of DNA replication, two independent cycles of nuclear division, and one round of nuclear division. Ovum or sperm can be produced from these cells. Male testicles are where sperm grow, whereas female ovaries serve as the site of ova development. A spermatozoon is a single, tiny, and mobile sperm cell. A flagellum is present in the spermatozoon.
