It was Figurative analogy, and therefore only good for illustration purposes. "A figurative analogy is a comparison about two things that are not alike but share only some common property" It basically means comparing two things that are different from each other in many ways but share a common feature amongst them.

Figurative language can express emotions in better way than using the simple words. "Simile, metaphor, and personification are common examples of figurative analogy."  

For Example- The sun is a ball of fire today.

He was walking slowly like a tortoise yesterday.

This contract is a big opportunity knocking at his door.
