The Pequot War was an example of a conflict in which indigenous peoples allied with English colonists and fought other indigenous peoples.

The Pequot War was a war between the Pequot tribe and an alliance of colonists and indigenous tribes. Colonists from Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth and Saybrook allied with the Narragansett and Mohegan tribes and fought the Pequot tribe between 1636 and 1638.

Over 700 Pequots died in the war or became captives. Hundreds of captives were also sold into slavery to other colonists. It led to the demise of the Pequot tribe in Southern New England, and the few survivors joined other tribes.
