Auditory cortex processes raw data (audio) sent to relevant structures for future processing. Stimulus enters left ear goes through the nerves to the right side (Crosses over). Then sent back to left hemisphere to the language centers.
Sound heard in left ear, info sent to right hemisphere as a result of crossing over of nerves. Once in the right auditory cortex, the info is sent to the left hemisphere b/c it is language, and left hemisphere is where language is processed.
Processing occurs in the dominant hemisphere (usually left). Left ear stimulus, right hemisphere auditory cortex, info from right ear goes to left hemisphere auditory cortex but for both cases they get processed in the left hemisphere.
