Culture can be defined as a set of values, traditions and common habits shared by a group, which generates identification and esteem. Therefore, language is essential for interaction between the members of a culture, and sign language dignifies the deaf community in its needs and expressions.

What is American Sign Language like?

It is a language created to enable deaf people to communicate more comprehensively, through the use of gestural signs and facial expressions that increase social interaction, independence and the individual's social and cognitive development.

Therefore, ASL is a tool that strengthens the deaf culture and generates integration into traditional culture, and must be included in social and institutional environments so that there is an increase in the inclusion of the deaf community in society.
