What is Accountability ?

In terms of ethics and governance, accountability is synonymous with answerability, blameworthiness, culpability, and the expectation of account-giving. As with any facet of governance, it has been crucial to discussions about problems in the public, nonprofit, corporate, and individual sectors.

Accountability is defined as accepting or being assigned responsibility for something you have done or something you are obligated to do. Accountability is demonstrated when an employee admits to making a mistake on a project.

Accountability reduces the amount of time and effort you spend on distracting activities and other ineffective behavior. Making employees accountable for their behavior effectively teaches them to respect their work. Accountability, when done correctly, can boost your team members' talents and confidence.
