The brain's neurons cluster into groups called Neural networks.
A nucleus is a part of the brain that is relatively compactly packed with neurons according to neuroanatomy. Along with layered structures like the cerebral cortex or cerebellar cortex, it is one of the two types of nerve cell architecture that occurs most frequently. Multiple types of neurons may be grouped in layers or clusters (subnuclei) within the nucleus, which itself may have a complicated internal structure.
If found in the central nervous system, a group of neurons is referred to as a nucleus; if found in the peripheral nervous system, it is referred to as a ganglion (PNS). The structures that stand in between the central and peripheral nerve systems are known as ganglia.
