Henry Ford on December 1, 1913 installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. This led to reduction in time from 12 hour to one hour. Henry Ford's model T introduced in 1908, was a simple, sturdy, and inexpensive. By opening large production plants and introducing the use of standardized and interchangeable part, not only allowed Ford company to turn out Model T every 24 seconds, but also converted a luxury item affordable.
The assembly line was inspired by the continuous flow production methods used by flour- mills, breweries, canneries, along with the disassembly of animal carcasses in Chicago's meat packing plants, Ford installed moving lines for bits and pieces of the manufacturing process. Hence Henry Ford is well known for its assembly line amongst the business student.
