Columbus, had bought several of them with him to Spain, which can be a possible reason for hurting up of relationship with the indigenous people, as, only eight of those people survived the journey.

When on 3rd August 1493, Columbus went on to find new route to Asia he reached Bahamas, which he considered India, and then he explored all the islands in which one was Hispaniola or Santo- Domingo.

On returning to Spain he left 30 men there to settle a new settlement called as, La Navidad  or Haiti, and kidnapped around 25 natives and take them with him to Spain.

Unfortunately, most of the kidnapped natives had died during the journey, only eight left according to available sources.
