Respuesta :

Cervical plexus gives rise to the phrenic nerve and this gives nerve supply to the Diaphragm.

Cervical plexus:

  • Within the head and neck is the complex neurologic system known as the cervical plexus.
  • The communication between the anterior divisions of the C1 through C4 nerves makes up the majority of the cervical plexus.

Phrenic nerve:

Your diaphragm is controlled by the phrenic nerve (the large dome-shaped muscle between your abdominal and chest cavities).

  • It is necessary for breathing.
  • Your diaphragm contracts as a result of signals sent by your nerve (become thicker and flatter).

Relationship between cervical nerve and phrenic nerve:

  • In humans, the third and fifth cervical nerves (C3-C5) also contribute to the development of the phrenic nerve, which is mostly derived from the fourth cervical nerve.
  • As a result, the phrenic nerve is innervated in part by the cervical plexus and in part by the brachial plexus.
