The correct word is chromatin.

What are chromatins?

Chromatin is a mixture of decondensed chromosomes and proteins. The chromosomes are responsible for storing genetic information and transferring such from one generation to the other.

When cells are in active divisions, the chromatin condenses and the tangle of fine fibers become visible under the microscope as chromosomes.

Once active divisions are over, the chromosomes decondense back to their natural states.

Thus, in cells that are not dividing, chromosomes uncoil to form a tangle of fine fibers known as chromatin.
