What is  T cell?

T cells are immune cells that grow from stem cells in the bone marrow. They assist to defend the body from infection and may aid in the fight against cancer. Also known as T lymphocytes and thymocytes.

T lymphocytes are another name for T cells. The "T" stands for "thymus," which is the organ where these cells mature. Unlike B cells, which mature in the bone marrow.

T cells can be found in almost every organ and tissue in the body, including primary and secondary lymphoid tissue, mucosal and barrier locations, exocrine organs, fat, and even the brain and central nervous system (CNS).
