We tend to develop relationships with individuals who we perceive to be unusual or unique, not before we have completely satisfies ourselves that we have a base level similarity with each other.
The concept takes into consideration the play of both verbal and non-verbal communication. When we have figured out that the person in front of us shares the same ideals, same experience and is from the same socio-cultural background, we start connecting with him or her.
