Fair debt collections act (fdcp) specifies what a collection source may and may not do when pursuing payment of past due accounts.

The fair debt collection practices act prohibits the use of abusive, unfair or vulgar languages when retrieving debts. Collectors can meet with debtors to collect money but illicit or imprudent practices are forbidden according to this act.

The Act of Fair Debt Collection Practices was passed to address harassment or abusive practice in relation with debt issues.The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act was enacted to eliminate abusive, deceptive and unfair debt collection practices. In this context, the right that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act gives the borrowers include the right not to be harassed.
