Even though the Constitution does not mention political parties, they developed soon after the Constitution came into effect, because of the opposing views of the leader, which led them to get their own set of followers and organize a different party.

The United States, till date, abides by the two party system, where they go by the rule that winner takes it all and a single member district, according to which there can be only one winner in a district. This means that a third party cannot comes into existence until and unless it grabs a win in an entire district.
