The el Puente program is designed to improve the lives of Native American adolescents living in poverty.

Puente is a four-year college preparatory program sponsored by UC Center for Educational Partnerships. Puente's mission is to help uneducated students enroll in her four-year college, earn a degree, and return to their communities as leaders and mentors for future generations.

Puente was founded in 1981 at Chabot College in Hayward, California by Felix Galaviz and Patricia McGrath.

El Puente (“Bridge” in Spanish) is a national award-winning program that helps students realize their dreams of college success. For more than 25 years, the Puente program has improved college attendance for tens of thousands of educationally underrepresented students in California.
