Crystallized intelligence is the culmination of all of one's life's learnings, including facts, abilities, and knowledge. Studies indicate that whereas fluid intelligence starts to decline after puberty, crystallised intellect keeps growing until maturity.
The ideas of fluid and crystallised intelligence were initially put out by psychologist Raymond Cattell, who further expanded the notion with his pupil John Horn. According to the Cattell-Horn theory of fluid and crystallised intelligence, intelligence is made up of several skills that interact and contribute to the development of an individual's total intellect.
