Human Lapiths appeared in human form on the ionic frieze of the Parthenon.
The Parthenon frieze runs around the upper edge of the temple wall of the Parthenon. It is seen that on the north, west, and south the frieze portrays a procession of musicians, horsemen, and sacrificial animals.
In the sculpted decoration of the Parthenon, the scenes of mythical battle were seen which also included ninety-two metopes. There was a series featuring human Lapiths by those on the south flank of the temple which was included in mortal combat with Centaurs.
The Centaurs were part-man and part-horse, thus having a civil and a savage side to their nature.
