All research projects involving human beings must be reviewed by a board, according to the act of the Commission.

Act of the Commission:

As per the Act of the Commission, it is expected to promote research in the field of human rights. (Clause 12 (g) of the Act). Accordingly, it conducts research studies in collaboration with universities, technical institutions and non-governmental organizations. The Commission also enlists young interns to participate in its research work. It has become very important for the Commission to link research with subjects which have practical importance for better protection of human rights.

The human rights:

  • The purpose of an institutional review board (IRB) in a university or clinical agency is to protect the human rights of subjects in proposed studies.
  • Institutional review boards (IRBs) are organized to examine the ethical aspects of studies before they are conducted. IRBs don't approve financing for studies in accordance with moral principles. IRBs examine studies' ethical components before they are conducted, not after they are published. IRBs don't establish ethical norms.
