During accommodation, the shape of the lens is changed by the ciliary muscle in order to see objects accurately at varying distances.

A lens, optic, glass, or other transparent material is used to create an image of an object by focusing light rays from the object. The

lens comes in two varieties: Convex (Converging) Lenses – Convex lenses are thicker in the center and thinner at the edges. Convex lenses are also known as converging lenses because they focus parallel rays inwards to a point known as the focal point.

The ciliary muscle is the intrinsic muscle of the eye and is formed as a ring of smooth muscle in the middle layer of the eye, the uvea (vascular layer). It controls accommodation for viewing objects at different distances and regulates the flow of aqueous humor into Schlemm's canal.
