During this process, the waste and hydrogen ions pass from the capillaries into the renal tubule which is called secretion. Kidney is the organ where the absorption of nutrients and removal of waste from the blood occur.

So we can conclude that substances in the blood are reabsorbed due to its usage in our body whereas the filtrate are secreted due to its harmful nature.
