How did Constantine decline the status of Rome?

Constantine the Great was a famous Roman emperor who fought wars to reunite the Roman Empire, and when he did, he introduced Christianity by his conversion, made it the state religion.

Constantine the Great was not too much a fan of Rome however and elected to move the capital of the empire from Rome to Constantinople which was hundreds of miles to the east thereby declining the status of Rome.
