The actions that brought the United States into WWI and the effects of these actions were:
- Sinking of the RMS Lusitania - led to American protests of German U-Boats.
- Unrestricted submarine warfare - Americans warned Germans of the consequences of sinking American civilian boats.
- German negotiations with Mexico - directly led to war as Americans had to defend themselves.
Why did the U.S. join the war?
The sinking of the Lusitania killed more than 100 Americans and led to intense protests by the U.S. German succumbed to pressure and dropped its submarine sinking techniques.
They however started again in 1917 which led to the U.S. strongly criticizing the Germans once more.
The final straw came with the Zimmermann Telegram where Germany wanted to ally with Mexico to attack the U.S. The U.S. entered WWI shortly after this.
