Anaerobic respiration

This refers to respiration in the absence of oxygen.

Without oxygen, glycolysis of the glucose molecule will take place just like in aerobic respiration.

However, instead of the pyruvate molecules moving into the Kreb's cycle, they are instead, converted to one of lactic acid or ethanol.
