The Friar's messenger does not have time to reach to Mantua (where Romeo has gone because he was banned from Verona) to inform Romeo of his plan because Juliet's wedding day has been moved forward by one day by her father. So, when Romeo hears from his servant that Juliet is dead, he has no idea that she is only under the influence of a strong sleeping spell and not truly dead. He dashes back to Verona and commits [tex]\text{s\beta icide}[/tex]unalive before the potion wears off.
