Soils in grasslands have a deep A horizon from the accumulation of organic material that dies back every year. This is what makes these soils so good for agriculture. In tropical rain forests the A horizon is very shallow because of rapid decomposition of dead material and leaching due to heavy rainfall. This, and the fact that cleared forest land bakes to a brick-like consistency, is why tropical soils have limited agricultural potential.

Agriculture in grasslands is more productive than agriculture in rainforests because plant crops thrive well and better due to lesser competition in grassland compared to that of the rainforests.

Tropical grasslands are regions that are typically dominated by grassland, shrubs, and plant crops with scanty trees. Annual seasonal rainfall is maintained in tropical grassland regions. Plant crops have optimal nutrients needed for their survival because they do not compete for food nutrients and water,

In the tropical rainforest where they plant species are majorly trees. The trees compete for food nutrients which made them have deepened roots. Also, sunlight does not reach the base of the land for photosynthetic activities to take place for plant crops.

Therefore, we can conclude that agriculture in grasslands is more productive than agriculture in rainforests because plant crops thrive well and better due to lesser competition in grassland compared to that of the rainforests.
