Two points are fundamental in this regard. The first refers to the presence of a rationalization in the Enlightenment principles. This rationalization, together with the idea of secularization (separation of church and state) form a fundamental principle of Western democracies: freedom of religion, propagation and encouragement of science, and basic human rights advocacy from the Declaration of Human Rights And the Citizen.
