Back to my own country is a reflective essay by Andrea Levy. She was indifferent when she arrived back in Jamaica as she wanted to be as much a Britisher.

Who is Andrea Levy?

Andrea Levy was the author and British Jamaican who wrote about sensitive topics like racism, cast, culture, color, etc. Her family moved to Britain before she was born.

Her family wanted to fit in the British society as much as possible and acted the same resulting in Levy being as same as them. This enactment of being a British drifted her from Jamaica making her different.

Therefore, trying to be more British made her act differently towards Jamaica.
