A world-famous hoax that I would want to mention is The Cottingley Fairies.

What is a Hoax?

This refers to the popularly talked about falsehood that contains sensational events and how it is used to misrepresent and fool people.

A good research question that can guide you in your research about famous hoaxes in history is "What Hoaxes got world attention?"

Another thing to note is that the sources used must be credible and must have been sorted with the different keywords and the Boolean signifiers to find famous hoaxes used.
