Answer:

Graded bedding is a sorting of particles according to clast size and shape on a lithified horizontal plane.

Graded bedding is commonly seen in sedimentary rocks, but not all of it comes from underwater landslides.

It tells scientists that it simply identifies strata that grade upward from coarse-textured clastic sediment at their base to finer-textured materials at the top.
