What is 2 n becaues i dont get it?

2n = 2 times n      So, 5x= 5 times x

OK so basically N will be the variable so if it's 2n that will make it to where it will be 2 times the number n so lets say 2n + 5n it then becomes 7n the n is just there to represent it's value.
