A paleontologist is a scientist who examines fossils.
Paleontologists help us understand the past by giving relevant meaning to fossils. A fossil may be a human femur (thigh bone) from the year 300, but a Paleontologist could tell you how tall the person was, how they lived based on other findings in the same area, and how they may have died.
