The statements which is evident that gases do not always behave ideally include the following:

  • It is impossible to compress a gas enough so that it takes up no volume.
  • CO2 gas becomes dry ice (solid co2) at 1 atm and –78.5∘c.
  • At 4 k and 1 atm, helium is a liquid.

What is an Ideal gas?

This is the type of gas  in which all collisions between atoms or molecules are perfectly elastic.

It has no intermolecular attractive force and not all gases behave ideally as can be seen in the above examples.
