How can 100. ml of sodium hydroxide solution with a ph of 13.00 be converted to a sodium hydroxide solution with a ph of 12.00 ?

Respuesta :

The solution can be evaporated such that only 10mL of the solution remains in that way, we can have a solution of pH 12.00.

What is pH?

The pH refers to the degree of acidity or alkalinity of solution. We can obtain the concentration of each solution from the pH as follows;

At pH = 13;

[OH^-] = Antilog (-13) = 1 * 10^-13 M

At pH 12

[OH^-] = Antilog (-12) = 1 * 10^-12 M

Using the formula;

C1V1 =C2V2

1 * 10^-13 M * 100 mL = 1 * 10^-12 M * VmL

VmL = 1 * 10^-13 M * 100 mL/1 * 10^-12 M

VmL = 10mL

The solution can be evaporated such that only 10mL of the solution remains in that way, we can have a solution of pH 12.00.
