Running water flowing along a river bed is usually forced to swing in loops because of the irregularities along the river bed.These river loops are called meanders.

As the water flows down stream through curved ,loop-like bends, erosion takes place at the outer part of the bed while deposition takes place at the inner part .This results into a meander
