In the year 1850 Harriet  did went to  Baltimore, Maryland, where she was said to have led her sister and two children to freedom.

The journey was known to be the first of all the dangerous roads into Maryland and she was said to have lead about 70 fugitive enslaved people in the path of the Underground Railroad to Canada.
