Dog breeding is the practice of mating selected dogs with the intention of maintaining or producing specific qualities and characteristics.

The heat cycles in dogs varry but is averagely two to three weeks for most dogs.
The heat cycle begins with the first signs of vulvar swelling or vaginal discharge. It ends when all discharge ceases and the vulva has returned to its normal size.
