He says he feels nothing. Essentially he's in a state of "numbness". Feeling sort of depressed I guess you could say. I don't think this change will be permanent neither do I think he would have used the bottle.

He feels nothing because no one has hit him. It can't be permanent. He's going to feel pain at some point. I think he would've used the bottle.
